Owners and Renters can cancel their booking through our website or mobile app. The charge for a cancellation will depend on the length of time before the booking.
It is the Owner's responsibility to ensure that they honour all rental bookings made.
However, Karshare accepts there will be times when an Owner needs to cancel a booking. When an Owner needs to cancel the following applies:
There is no charge for cancellations made more than 48 hours before the booking starts
A £25 charge applies for cancellations 24 to 48 hours before the booking starts*
A £50 charge applies for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking starting
*Karshare will waive this fee if a Renter makes another rental booking with the same Owner within a 24 hour period
If a rental booking has been made and plans need to change, the Renter must act in a responsible way and ensure the Owner of the vehicle is given the best chance to take a new booking.
If a Renter needs to cancel, the following fees apply:
No charge if the cancellation is cancelled more than 48 hours before the booking starts
One day's rental for a cancellation 24 to 48 hours before the booking starts (or the full value if the booking is for less than a day)
100% of the rental for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking starting.
Renter Grace Period
A booking can be cancelled without charge, if it is cancelled within 24 hours of the booking being made, as long as the booking start date is more than 48 hours away.
Any booking which starts in less than 48 hours has a grace period of 6 hours when it can be cancelled without charge.
Renter No Show
If a Renter fails to turn up for their booking they will be charged 100% of the rental.
