We operate a fair fuel policy to ensure that Renters and Owners are treated fairly.
Do I have to refill the fuel in the vehicle?
You should always bring the car back with the same level of fuel as when you picked it up. This will stop you from being charged for fuel. To ensure there’s enough fuel left for the next person, we kindly ask that you always return the car with at least a quarter of a tank.
Will I be charged if I don’t refill the fuel?
If you’re unable to refill the vehicle with fuel, you’ll be charged per litre of missing fuel. The rate for this is dynamic and depends on the market value.
If you do not return the car with a quarter of a tank, this will affect your Karshare rating. There’s also a £10 Karshare admin charge, plus a £10 charge to cover the cost of the inconvenience to the Owner, in addition to the costs of the shortfall in fuel.
At the end of a rental, a credit or debit will be added to your total charges based on the fuel level at return.
How do I report a vehicle’s fuel level?
Dependent on the vehicle, fuel levels are either automatically sent to the app or manually inputted within the Karshare app. This happens at the start and end of each rental.
If the vehicle requires taking a dashboard photo and manually entering the fuel level, please remember to complete these steps at the beginning of your rental as well as at the end of your rental. This helps us accurately calculate missing or additional costs.
