Fines and Charges

If you're a Karshare renter, you're already a good driver. However, there are times where even the best of us make mistakes. 

Usually, we will not know if we have been fined or charged by an authority until after the fact. This means that it is usually reported to us by the owners of the cars.

When they report these to us, we simply match the time of the incident to the time of bookings and can determine if it was you or the owner who was at fault. We will automatically charge your card if you were responsible for the fine, and will add a £10 admin fee as well to cover the considerable time they take to administer.

Speeding tickets

If you are caught speeding, you may need to pay a fine and take some penalty points on your license.

Penalty Charge Notices

PCNs must be reported by the owners promptly.

In order to ensure the charges do not increase we'll pay the fine and then charge the amount back to your card for the PCN. 

Private Parking Fines

As well as local authority parking charges (covered by PCN), you could also be fined for parking illegally in a privately operated car park.

Congestion Charge (London only)

The Congestion Charge is an £15 daily charge for driving a vehicle within the charging zone between 07:00 and 22:00, every day except Christmas Day.

ULEZ Charges and Clean Air Policies

London has a ULEZ Charge which has expanded its area and applies at all hours of every day except Christmas Day. The charge is £12.50 and must be paid before entering the charging zone.

Other cities are also introducing their own clean air policies including Birmingham, Bath and Bristol from Monday 28th November. More information can be found here.
